preparations

Posted on Aug 2nd, 2006 by Katie : Eternal teacher and student Katie

So today I got my vaccines. One Hepititis A, then a tetanus, diptheria, and last but not least TYPHOID... which, very greatfully, was oral (just pills). The nice lady at the clinic even gave me a sticker. She told me that the tetanus one is going to feel like someone punched me in the arm tomorrow, which should be interesting because I teach a Yoga class at 9:30 in the AM.

I also have my Visa for India, it is really pretty. It's just a giant sticker in my passport.

I must admit I'm getting a wee bit nervous. Only a month left to go. I feel like I have lots of little ends to tie up, but in the end all I can do is close my eyes and jump with trust in a higher power that the landing will be just as it should.

I feel so grateful to be going on the journey, I feel grateful to be alive in general.

Intro to Meditation 7/22/2006   12:00-2:00 PM
There is a higher level of understanding withing all of us. This understanding can be comprehended by every atom, cell, nerve, muscle, and organ in your body. Your higher self can speak this language fluently if givn the chance. The only way to hear it’s truth is to quiet the mind and focus. There are many different paths to this place. In this lecture we will discuss and practice a few including walking meditation, focus on the breath, meditating on prayer or mantram, and Yoga as an aid to meditation.

Yoga Hygiene 7/29/2006    12:00-2:00 PM
Being balanced in a stressful society requires efforts at creating healthy habits. Learn how to keep the body clean and pure using age old methods such as nasal washing, ear candling, colon health, and eye exercises. As a result of following healthy behaviors certain common illnesses may occur less often. The intention of caring for the body’s well being is experienced as a spiritual discipline that affects all aspects of one’s life.

Intro to Pranayama (science of breath) 8/05/06    12:00-2:00 PM
It is truly amazing how the state of your mind is so closely linked to the state of your breath. Learn how Prana, or lifeforce, is constantly affecting you and vice verse. Also learn breathing exercises to still the mind and aid in meditation. Breath can be used to cleanse the body of impurities, while at the same time relieving stress that comes from day to day life in this fast paced culture. Learn how to make the 18-20,000 breaths we take a day count.

Living your yoga off the mat 8/12/2006   12:00-2:00 PM
Sometimes it is difficult to translate that peaceful feeling on your Yoga mat into everyday life. Yoga is much more than postures, it is a way of life. Learn about the philosophy behind Yoga, and how to take these 5,000+ old teachings with you in all that you do. Incorporating your Yoga into daily activities will help you establish a more balanced lifestyle.

All classes are $10.00 with pre-registration, $15.00 at the door.
